Use UDPcast, opensource mulitcasting software on Windows
In this video demonstration we investigate the power of opensource software and use UDPcast to multicast files in the classroom to many PCs. This is not imaging the OS but can be used to copy large file such as VM disk to machines ready for labs. I use this in my classrooms to distribute Virtual Machines but this is just one example. One PC, usually mine, is the Master the others then receive the files via multicast and are the clients or slaves. TheOS is availble during the session so students continue to use their PC during the copy process. Being multicast the large files are send just once rather tan many times to each PC.
