Installing the Apache Web Server onto Windows

One advantage of using open source software is that, very often, binaries will be written for more than one OS and more than one platform. This is certainly the case with the Apache Web Server as it may install onto Linux, Unix, Netware and Windows that I know of. If you are a Windows administrator I could ask you how many Operating Systems could you install IIS onto too; but you wouldn’t understand the question.

In this video we show that if you are installing Apache onto Windows then it does not mean that these lessons will not be useful to you; the configuration file is the same: httpd and the directives are the same. The ServerRoot is now %PROGRAMFILES%/Apache Group/Apache2/ and the DocumentRoot %PROGRAMFILES%/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs/. Once you know this it is plain sailing
